Juniors

We have a dedicated junior branch of Eastbourne Archers, which aims to give them the skills to develop, while at the same time ensuring that they have fun and enjoy the sport. There is no set age limit, as we are aware that each child is different in terms of stature, response to learning methods and assimilation times.

Although encouraged to shoot alongside the adult members of the club, during the Outdoor Season (April to September) Monday nights are specifically set-aside for junior shooting to take priority. This enables them to integrate within their own age range in a non-pressurised situation and hone their skills at a pace they enjoy.

Throughout the Winter, the junior club moves to a Saturday morning, when they share the field with our adult archers.

There are a number of rewards that can be earned throughout the year. These are the classification badges, arrow awards and the progression awards. There are also awards made monthly in the junior handicap shoot. Juniors are also encouraged to participate in competitions when ready.

The junior club leader, Paul Bridge, is a level 1 Coach and has been DBS checked in line with national policies for sports clubs.  This should give parents the peace of mind that their child is safe. Parents are encouraged to stay during the sessions and help out, whether it be with scoring, finding the inevitable missed arrow or even giving the encouragement the juniors need for them to enjoy the sport of archery.  Under 14's are required to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times on the shooting field.
